HISTORY
---
In April, 2000, a few local Cardigan fanciers met at Sisterwood Kennels for the purpose of forming a regional club; long overdue in an area known for its whole-hearted support of the Cardigan Welsh Corgi. After a brief informal meeting it was agreed the name of the fledgling club would be THREE TRAILS CARDIGAN WELSH CORGI CLUB OF KANSAS CITY, commemorating the Santa Fe, California and Oregon Trails which played an important part in the history of the Kansas City area. At the third meeting of the club, in June 2000, it was decided to publish a quarterly newsletter. Plans were set in motion for a club website sometime in 2001, and after a few setbacks, it finally did appear, in February of 2002.

Minutes of the Regular Meeting
July 25, 2006

The regular meeting of the Three Trails Cardigan Welsh Corgi Club of Kansas City was called to order at 7:00 PM by vice-president Pat Mann. The meeting was held at the Home Town Buffet in Kansas City, MO.
SECRETARY: The minutes were approved as sent to the members by email.
TREASURER: Glenn Schmitz reported that the club’s current balance was $3,168.69. He said the state and federal tax reports had been filed and he handed out updated rosters.
SUPPORTED SHOW: Sarah Keth reminded everyone that she needed the trophies tonight and that she would contact the CWCCA because she has not received the medallions. She has reserved a 20’ x 30’ grooming space for the club.
AKC STATUS: Claudia Mitchell said that she had not finished the forms for the AKC yet. The members felt that Topeka would be the best place to hold future shows. Western Reserve would not be a big problem and it would be possible to add a raffle or dinner in the future.
NEWSLETTER: Janet Stewart said that she had been working on getting a newsletter going again. She suggested a "round robin" newsletter among the members which she could then include in the newsletter. Some other suggestions from the members were: 1) run a picture of a puppy or retired dog and see if anyone knew who it was, 2) have a crossword or word search, 3) include a paragraph asking people whether they would prefer to receive the newsletter by mail or email.
OLD BUSINESS: The problem with getting programs was discussed. We were never able to work out a convenient time for Doug Taylor to come. Some suggestions for future activities were a herding instinct test and visits to a nursing home.
NEW BUSINESS: The CWCC is celebrating it’s 80 anniversary and would like to have ads from all of the Cardigan clubs. The members voted to spend up to $100 for an ad. Norma Chandler will send the information to the Mitchell’s and Jim will design an ad. Claudia will contact Helen Turin and ask for a copy of the catalog for 3 Trails. A former CWCCA show chair has offered her Show/Trial Manual and related booklets to 3 Trails, Norma asked if the club wanted them. The members agreed that they would be useful so Norma will accept on our behalf.
Following brags, the meeting was adjourned at 7:55 PM.

Respectfully submitted,
Claudia Mitchell

RESULTS OF THE THREE TRAILS FUN MATCH
SEPTEMBER 29, 2000

---
We held our first Fun Match on September 29, 2000, and it was great! It was held in conjunction with the Sunflower Kennel Club of Olathe, KS show in Gardner, KS. We had an entry of ten puppy bitches and three puppy dogs. We had three juniors attending which really made the evening special. The response was outstanding. Gayle Garvin, Linda Rhoten, Sue Harrison and Jan Dickson made a very special effort to attend. These ladies drove from 100 to 300 miles one way just to attend this match! Don Glenn was our conformation judge. Don did an outstanding job of working with these puppies. Don came equipped with patience and a gentle touch. Sue Harrison had a lovely young bitch puppy, WinBuck's Penny Lane, who was Best In Match. Nancy Edmonds was our obedience judge, and there were three dogs entered. We had one dog "qualify" with a score of 193.5 in Novice B. She was Chandler's For Heaven's Sake CD CGC, who was shown "For Exhibition Only."
